Breakfast: More Important Than You Think
When it comes to good nutrition, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day for three reasons:
Better nutrition: Adults and children who eat in the morning get more vitamins and minerals into their diets than people who skip breakfast.
Weight control: People who eat breakfast regularly tend to have a lower body mass index (BMI).
Breakfast is fuel. Kids who skip breakfast may feel tired and hungry in school, which could make it harder to concentrate.
Not a breakfast eater?
Try to start making it a habit. These tips can help you make breakfast the most important meal of the day:
Stock up. Be sure you always have plenty of breakfast foods in the house.
Take it to go. Prepare travel-ready meals that you can grab on your way out the door. Muffins, cereal bars, fruit and sandwiches make great, portable breakfasts.
Plan ahead. Prepare your breakfast the night before to save time in the morning. For example, while you’re getting dinner ready, you can whisk the eggs, chop the veggies and grate the cheese for a veggie scramble.
In a rut?
If you’re sick of the same-old, same-old every morning, try one of these great breakfast ideas to get out of your rut and find a new breakfast habit.
